The Lord of Lichfield
When Malcolm Wiggins identified that there was a gap in the market for a reliable building business in and around the Lichfield area, he set up Lichfield Design & Construct Ltd to provide local people with a trustworthy source for extensions, conversions and general building work.

That was back in 1987 and since then Malcolm has never looked back. The order books are full and the company now employs 14 workers. From new porches to major extensions – one recent project included the conversion of a vaulted ceiling in what was thought to be a bishop’s bolt hole, used by fleeing clergy from the nearby Cathedral.
Focusing within a 10 mile radius of Lichfield, the importance of customer satisfaction is paramount and is the reason why Malcolm believes the company has been a success. Malcolm said “Gaining a good reputation takes time and once you’ve got a good name for yourself, you want to make sure it remains. I like to think we are uncompromising in our approach and level of workmanship which once a job is complete, helps enhance the name of the business.”
“There’s nothing better than receiving a call from a potential new customer following a recommendation from someone we’ve done work for. That way we know we have done a good job and the customer was happy. I’d also like to pay tribute to everyone who works for the business and for their help, dedication and skill. Without such a great team we wouldn’t be in the strong position we are today and this award is as much for them as it is for me.” Such is Lichfield Design & Construction Ltd reputation the company was awarded, in 2006, by the local council with the Lichfield Built in Quality Award, an award given to a building business that has demonstrated consistent high quality work. Malcolm added: “It’s always nice to receive prizes and awards for the work we do but the biggest prize of all is to see the look on peoples faces once a job is complete.”
