“It’s a well known fact throughout the building industry that one of the most time consuming parts of the job is providing quotes and estimates. Here Adrian Wild, from new NFB associate member, HBXL, highlights how his business can help and how you can save money.
A recent survey revealed that on average builders waste 67 days a year providing quotes and estimates for jobs they don’t even win! In addition, it was found that builders would on average have to provide up to seven quotes in order to win one contract. However with more and more builders starting to embrace IT, the problem of wasting time producing quotes that never materialise into work appear to be changing.

PlansXpress is the latest development from HBXL’s Adrian Wild, a former builder and designer of EstimatorXpress and Health & Safety Xpert. Lee Jones [Deputy Editor of Professional Builder Magazine] takes a look at the software. Although most builders will be familiar with a set of CAD drawings and confident in applying them to the job in hand the presentation skills needed to actually draught planning application and building regulation documents has always been the preserve of the architect himself. A builder’s design potential is then limited by his draughtsmanship skills and the result is the need to resort expensive professional consultants if they are to provide a full service.
