Business of the Year Awards 2009: Family business - Highly Commended.

The outstanding achievements of Bristol's best companies were honoured at a glittering awards ceremony.
The third Bristol Evening Post Business Awards awarded Bristol
software company HBXL with the 'Highly Commended Family Business of the
Year' certificate in front of more than 200 people at the Bristol City
Centre Marriott hotel.
Founder Adrian Wild said “Its great to be able to win awards such as
this and it highlights some of the excellent work being undertaken by
businesses throughout the city. It proves that when it comes to
entrepreneurial spirit and development, Bristol is right up there with
the best!”
“As a company HBXL has revolutionised the way builders across the
country approach a job. By using our software they produce estimates,
CAD drawings, contracts and their health and safety paperwork in a
fraction of the time.”
“When the original business was formed there were only three of us
working on the project – myself, my brother Martin and Steven, who is
now my son-in-law. As the business grew, other family members joined,
bringing their own expertise and enthusiasm. This included my other
brother Simon, my son Matthew and my daughters Joanna and Olivia. Not
to mention the fact that my father, another prospective Son-in-Law and
two of my nieces have also been working here.”

The awards had nine catagories: Business of the Year; Company of an
annual turnover of more than £5 million; Company with under £5 million;
Family Business of the Year; Community Award; Entrepreneur of the Year;
Training Scheme/Policy of the Year; Sustainability Award and Lifetime
Achievement Award for Businessman or Businesswoman.
