What regulations do I need to know about in 2010?

There are 3 key changes you need to prepare for in 2010. CIA Accounts will do all of this for you quickly and easily so if you're not prepared and need an accounting software package that knows the quirks of the construction industry, then you need CIA. The legislation changes in 2010 are:
  1. Online filing for employers' PAYE forms
ALL employers, including employers with fewer than 50 employees must file their end of year forms ONLINE by April 2010 at the very latest. Filing in-year forms online will only become compulsory from April 2011 onwards HOWEVER, if you start filing your end of year forms online before these deadlines, you can claim tax-free payments!
  2. Forthcoming changes to VAT and Corporation Tax
From April 2010 you will ONLY be able to manage your VAT and Corporation Tax affairs online. CIA Accounts, using the VAT Online service, helps to file your VAT returns quickly and make electronic payments.
  3. VAT Rate back to 17.5%
On January 1st 2010 the standard rate of VAT reverts back to 17.5 per cent

For more information on any of these topics you can visit the HMRC Website at www.hmrc.gov.uk
