Dave on CHAS - Health & Safety
Published: Thursday, January 07, 2010
CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) was set up in 1998. It provides contractors with a benchmark in health and safety competence, which many clients now insist upon before invitation to tender or the award of the contract
The CHAS assessment covers many aspects including:
-
Health and Safety policy statement
- Organisation for Health and Safety
- Specific Health and Safety arrangements to a standard acceptable to clients
There is little doubt that this type of benchmarking will eventually lead to a considerable improvement in health and safety standards across the construction industry
HBXL's Health & Safety Xpert software is also dedicated to improving such standards and it is no coincidence that it ticks most of the boxes required for the CHAS Assessment
Health & Safety Xpert has been refined over the years and is now tailored to cover the following topics specifically mentioned in the CHAS assessment.
- Company Policy
Risk and COSHH assessments
- Accident reporting
- Assessing sub-contractor competence
- Work equipment and plant inspections
- Electrical safety
- Emergency arrangements
- Manual handling
- Asbestos
If you have concerns regarding ability to meet the CHAS standard then why not take a major step in the right direction and purchase HBXL's Health & Safety Xpert
